Centipede Ultra ($.99)

Who doesn't love those old fashioned arcade games that we used to play so much? Sitting in the bar with some friends playing the classic game of Centipede used to be one of America's favorite past times in the 80's and now you can play this great game on your iDevice! How awesome is that?!

This app brings Atari's finest to the palm of your hand with new updated graphics and sound. (Boy, does it sound great with headphones!) This game brings you new power ups to destroy those nasty critters but still has that old fashioned feel of the trackball and fire button.

This game has three game difficulties. The easy level (which is what I play on) fires automatically. Medium and hard is where you have to click a button in the top left/right of the screen to fire. Other than that the game feels about the same though. To play you just slide your finger back and forth to aim (and fire). If you have never played the game before, it is quite simple to get used to. When you gain more points you will get another life. (Every 15,000 to be exact) All together you can get ten lives.

The PowerUps

I love this feature. These were not in the original (based on what my Dad remembers) but its awesome all the same. If you fire at a PowerUp you will get a special power. These include:

*Rapid Fire- Super fast shooting!
*Multi Shot- 3 cannons firing parallel
*Reflect Shot- 2 cannons firing diagonally (Great for spiders)

There are also PowerUps that affect the environment:

*Time Slow- Slows down all enemies (Also happens when hitting an inchworm)
*DDT (Bomb)- Completely nukes all insects
*Burst- Kills all enemies near the Burst PowerUp
*Swarm: Makes 4 enemies COME OUT OF NO WHERE!!

I must say... This is a fantastic app. Me and my Dad play it all the time. There are a few things I would love to see in an update though.

A universal highscore list- The game comes with a device highscore list (for when you play against a friend on that device), but there isn't an online leaderboard for this game
OVER 1,000,000!!- The score counting stops when you hit 999,999!! Yes...we've done it.
Old Centipede option?- Some prefer the classic look of the game. Maybe you could put in an option?

My Dad just said (as he's sitting here playing it) "This game definitely held up over three decades" So take it from him. He's been playing it since the beginning.

Chess Knight ($.99)

One of my friends in school like to play chess and he brought in a chess app on his iPod. It was fun but it glitches up a lot and the graphics were a bit boring. So I checked around and found this app called Chess Knight. It is a lot better. The graphics are really nice looking and the features it has are very cool.
You can play against a computer with a level of your choice, you can play against a friend on your iPod, or you can use a Bump feature to play against a friend who also owns the game.
How does the Bump work? First, you both have town the game and turn on bluetooth, then you press the button that says "Use Bump Feature," bump the two iPods together and, boom! You guys should be connected! I haven't tried this feature yet since no one I know owns the game, but if it DOES work as promised, well....that is really cool.

SketchPad ($.99)

I really love to draw and this app is perfect for anyone else who does. SketchPad is unlike most drawing apps. You have an unlimited drawing space which really helps when drawing large things. You can zoom in and out as much as you want, adjust the line thickness and color, and it even has a copy and paste feature! That is one of my favorites.
I would give this app a VERY high rating. It is so awesome if I could marry an app, I would. :D

In a previous review, I wrote about the Ultimate Guitar app. That was used to search for tabs and chords. If anyone out there plays guitar I would highly recommend that app and this one.
UG tools has a couple of great tools that will aid in your quest to become a great musician. It includes

A great featured metronome
A chromatic tuner (this feature needs a mic)
A "brain tuner" (will play the sound of the string you need to tune)
A large chord library. (No wifi needed!!)

I ran a bit late with this review because I was using it so much! It is an amazing app that is portable, user friendly, and all around awesome.

If I may request a feature that would be a great update.. I would love to see one more section after the chord library that would have guitar scales. Different keys and types. It would make it the perfect guitar app. It's super now.. But with that feature? Woah.

Tiny Wings ($.99)

Hmm.. What is it with people and birds? I mean...Angry Birds was on the top list for how long? NOW, there is this game named Tiny Wings.
You are a tiny bird and dream of flying. Oh how bad you want to soar! But, you cant yet, you see. So, not wanting to wait any longer, you go from island to island gaining speed by going up and down small hills. The catch? You HAVE to keep it daytime. You do this by collecting "Sun coins." Collecting a lot of these will keep it daytime.
There are also "Speed Coins." These guys will boost your speed a good deal. This game comes with a lot of different islands each having maybe 25 hills to rack up points. These islands are all different colors and gives the game a nice feel when you get to a new one.
I also enjoy how they created the objective part of the game. When you complete everything on the objectives list, you get a better nest.
For a buck, you can't go wrong with this game. If you like those high score, fast paced, reflex needed games, you will like this one. Most definitely a five star app.

(Maybe this is the game that will de-throne Angry Birds for a while! ;D)

The same friend I was talking about in the Chess Knight review showed me this awesome game. I must admit, I was a bit skeptical at first. It kinda seemed a bit boring and childish. I watched him play, and the more I watched...THE MORE I WANTED IT! It is not at all what I thought it was.
*By now you probably know how I review apps. Next, I will talk about the objective and gameplay, then the goods, and if any, the bads. :D*
The object of the game to get the candy into the cute little monster's mouth by...cutting ropes. It sounds quite easy when I say it like that, but as you are trying to do that, the candy has to "dodge" different obstacles, spiders, and collect stars to go to the next level and boost your score.
I really enjoy the graphics in this game. It is cartoonish and relaxing when you feel like playing a puzzle game. I also like how the little monster whimpers if he doesn't get his candy. I like the feature that allows you to skip a level if you JUST CAN'T GET IT. You can come back to it later. (If you want to get to the next set of levels, you DO have to finish all the puzzles in the "box.")
Not much I can really say bad about this game... Ummm... The only thing I can POSSIBLY think of is landscape supported puzzles would be awesome. I would highly recommend this app. It is a fun puzzler and is well worth the buck!

Fragger, Gravity Guy, and SushiGoRound

Fragger $.99

Fragger is a very fun game and it also gets very challenging as well. You are a soldier in the war! You must throw your grenades at the enemy! You do this by holding your finger down and positioning your throw. Then you lift up to let go. Like most games, it sounds easy in writing, but it gets pretty tough. There are many obstacles in your way to the enemy. Walls, wood, dynamite.. Once you surpass those, you are good to go.
As I stated earlier, you have to hold your finger down and let it go to release. I would really like to see an update that you can hold down to get set, but then press a button to release. It gets a bit annoying sometimes when you have to get a little higher but your finger gets in the way.
Overall this is an amazing app though. Very fun to play, a lot of levels.. What more could you ask for?

Gravity Guy $.99

Gravity Guy is another amazing game! This game is basically what the name says. You are a man that is trying to escape from a futuristic prison. The robot men are trying to catch you, so you have to... RUN! But the twist is, you have to avoid obstacles by switching the gravity. You go through checkpoints to ensure you keep going forward but it gets faster and faster as you go along. You cannot switch the gravity while in the air. You must be on the ground. (Or ceiling) Sometimes you might float into space!
This a great game to kill time (or not) and is another challenging one from Miniclip.

SushiGoRound $.99

Has anyone ever played that game Lemonade Stand? SushiGoRound is a bit like that, but with more recipes and better graphics. You..are a chef in a sushi restaurant. Can you handle seating, feeding and keeping nonstop customers happy?
There is a recipe book full of the foods your customers want. Make the right combination of ingredients, and match the food to the person. Sound easy? WRONG! Customers start to poor into the restaurant and and if you don't serve them fast enough, they will get angry and leave.
Like a real kitchen, you will run out of ingredients. You will have to order the food which could be quick or a long process depending on how much you pay.

8 Bit Games-Flying ($1.99)

Anyone out there who likes classic retro arcade games, this is one for you! Flying is a 3D game where you fly a small plane and avoid the many structures that start to come at you (rather quickly sometimes!) It being an 8 bit game has pixelated animations and music which gives it that great feeling of the 80's! Like a lot of games, it sounds much easier than it really is. Different types of buildings and statues (of all different sizes) come at you waiting for you to crash into them! (Mwahahaha) The type of camera angle (behind the plane) makes it even more of a challenge to navigate at points. (In a good way) There are also different places you fly through:

-New York City
- Egypt
- Inside of a Pyramid
- (Loop to NY city)
In the Pyramid, enemies are moving around as well so be careful!

Very simple controls: Tilt your device left or right to steer and tap anywhere on the screen to pause. I like that because it makes it a lot easier to play.
There are just a couple things that I would really like to see in the next update.
1.) The music. It has some arcade music sounds but I think it would fit the part well if you got some really awesome music and put it in.
2.) Another amazing feature this game should have is the ability to access your your Twitter and Facebook accounts. It would be great to see other people's scores. (Or at least brag about them to your friends on Facebook). This games does have Scoreloop (Online system like Openfeint) which should quench your high score posting needs.
Even though there are a couple things missing I love this game. I can tell this will be on my iPod for a long time.

P.S. This game has an equivalent called 8 bit games- Flying 2d. It's basically the same game (Free & less features) but you see your plane from the top! It gives the game a whole different perspective.

Geared (Free)

This is a real brain-buster game. The object is to make the already spinning gear connect to the non-spinning one by adding more gears. Not nearly as simple as it sounds. The puzzle gets more challenging by only giving you a certain amount of gears or different sized ones. Then the puzzles start to have areas where you can't place a gear. (Hint hint: sometimes you have to drop them!) there are tons of fascinating levels that will keep you entertained for hours.

This... Was a short review.. I don't know what else to say, really. THIS WAS AN AWESOME GAME! Ummmm.... GO GET IT NOW! :D

Doodle God ($.99)

This game is interesting. It is a very good concept and it works very well. The object of the game is to create new forms of matter with just earth, air, fire, and water. ( You'll be very surprised at how many things you can create!) I like how the game feels as well. I played a game "like" this one and it was pretty bad. It was hard to create new things, navigability was terrible, and the overall gameplay was just...blah. You start by making things like swamps, dust, plants, and things like that. Then, you start to make things that have life! Plankton, lizards, birds, humans! You can keep adding to things too! Once you make humans and vodka you can combine them and get and alcoholic! Or you can add swamp to human and get corpse, or something like that.
All of the things you can make are well thought out also which means you won't get a fish by combining fire and grass! Great game that will probably take you a while to complete.

This is pretty nifty app for anyone who likes Pokemon. What are there now? 493?? Wow... Anyway, this app will take you through ALL of the things you need to be a Pokemon Master! Let me get you a list of all the stuff it does:

Tonepad (Free)

Tonepad is really fun app to play around with. It is a music app that can create your own music tracks by placing dots on a board. How the music sounds depends on how you place the dots (how many you place and the patterns you place them in). It is a bit hard to hear just playing with your iPod speakers but if you hook it up to external speakers or plug in your headphones, it is really cool. You can save a track and play/edit it later which is another great feature found in this app.
By the way... If you really like this app, there is a paid one with more features in the app store for $.99! Try this one first, see how you like it, and if you do... Have a blast with the paid version! It has more features like creating custom ringtones and making as many songs as you want!

Axe In Face ($.99)

Hey guys! I just got this off the app store and you should too! It sounds like a violent game, but it really isn't. The object of the game? To keep your Viking manliness and protect all of your sacred daffodils! Sound fun? It is. You draw a path from your Viking and have to kill all the approaching Vikings with your axe. Once they get into the flower patch, you lose!
There are different things that happen during the game though. For example, other Vikings start to come holding trees! What do you do?! You throw your axe into a fire, hit them with the flaming axe, and they...disintegrate.
I would most definitely say this is a five star app. The gameplay is fun and cartoonish yet it gets quite challenging. Now go my son! Go fight so you can reach Valhalla!!

DLO HybridShell 2g Case

I just bought this case at Radioshack and I really love it. It's called the HybridShell for the iPod Touch 2g. On the back it is clear so you can see the back of your iPod and on the edges it has great looking green silicone. It is is ultra-thin but offers a lot of protection. This case comes with a screen protector as well which is an awesome touch.
The only problem I had with this case was that it was a bit hard to get on. They give you instructions on how to do it, but still was a little annoying... Now that it IS on though, it was worth the effort because it is such a nice looking case.
You can probablly pick this case up in a lot of electronic places or even eBay! I actually got mine on sale for $5 on clearance but the tagged price for one of them is $24.99. Don't let the "high" price discourage you though, it is well worth it.

If you like challenging puzzlers, this is one you should check out. In the beginning the marble...people give you a pretty good tutorial of how to actually play the game and then you do it yourself. The object of the game is to get the right colored marblenaut into the correct color transporter. To do this, you must destroy a rock to either the left or right of the little guy. Sounds simple right? WRONG! For you to blow up certain rocks you must get one marblenaut to a specific place. A bunch of the puzzles include teamwork between however many nauts there are in the place.
While the first couple are easy, it DOES get harder due to the addition of obstacles that get in the way. Really, there isn't much I can say bad about this game. It is a fun one to play when you want something to do that will make you think or just want to play something fun. Great game that I highly recommend to any puzzle fan!

I was looking around the net and the app store for a game like Kirby for my iPod and came a across this one somehow. It may have been on a forum or something.... ANYWAY! This game is like Mario, Kirby, PAC-Man all mixed together in one colorful game. The object of the game is to use your power of gravity shifting to go through many levels, eating all of the fruit and making sure you don't get squished by an enemy monster… thing.
It is a Kirby-ish kind of game which I really recommend that you try out. It's a fun FREE challenging game that will keep you busy thinking of a way to get around that monster! You have nothing to lose!

God I love retro-style games! I honestly think these ARE the best type of games out there for the iPod and this is a truly magnificent one. The storyline is fairly simple, yet explanatory. You...are a pizza boy, who was delivering a pizza one day, and a terrible nasty bird stole your pizza. What do you want?!!? REVENGE!!! ...and...your pizza back to earn your $8.50 an hour :D
You, as the pizza boy run, jump, and throw bottles you collect along the way to find that blasted bird and also finish the "maze/platform" in a given amount of time.
The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is simple, the puzzles and mazes are challenging, and overall, the game is a definite 5 out of 5. Hands down awesomeness.
I would get it.. Really. Go and get it.

Animation Creator ($1.99)

Does anyone like to draw, or more specifically animate your drawings? There are a couple of animation apps out there but this is one of the best I think. It's really a fun app to play around with but once you do make a good looking animation, you can upload it to YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter! That is a feature that some applications lack.
There is a lot of different features that you can play around with to make a fun animation. A couple are using a good amount of different colors, drawing shapes like straight lines, circles, and rectangles, different pixels sizes when you use the paintbrush, using layers, playback speed, and more. I like to use Pivot on my desktop a lot and that is a pretty great equivalent.
I really like how you can see the onion skin when you go to the next frame as well.
I can't really say anything bad about this app because it is pretty much everything I want in an animation app.
Just one suggestion for the devs at Red Software: while I do like all the features it is lacking one thing. A sort of copy paste function. Once you click the plus sign to add a new frame, yes, you do see the onion skin, but the last drawing wasn't there making it hard to make a smooth animation because it will be different from the last. It isn't really anything MAJOR but it really would be a bit more enjoyable to make a very smooth animation rather than a choppy one.
All in all this is a five star app and I will make sure I rate it so in the app store as well.

Flight of the hamsters ($.99)

I remember when I was about 7 or 8 and I used to play this game on the Cartoon Network website! I was looking for a good game and found this one! The object of this game is to sling the hamsters the farthest you can. Once you are airborne, you get power ups and other things to propel you further. It is a high score game like Doodle Jump, but unlike Doodle Jump, for some reason, it is not as aggravating when you don't get as far as you want to. Maybe it's because you do it in a clip of 5 hamsters instead of just 1 Doodler.
I really like this game and think it is fun and addictive but not annoying when you get your score. Great app that is well worth a buck. Go try it out!

Ultimate Guitar Tabs ($2.99)

If anyone uses the Internet to look up different chords and tabs for songs that you'd like to learn, you've probably been to ultimateguitar.com. It is a really great site that has a HUGE database for ALL types of music and many songs have different versions! So along with the desktop version, they came out with an iPod app! It has all of the tabs on the site with all the great features! Just type in the song/band that you want to look up music for, pick which version you want to view, and you are good to go! Don't know how to play an Em7? Just click on the blue chord name and it shows you a chord diagram. This application is called "Ultimate Guitar Tabs" but it has a TON of chords.
I really like to play rhythm guitar and this has helped me a great deal. I was playing in my room and wanted to check out a tab. I wasn't near a computer so I used this handy app. You DO need Internet connection for this app but if you want to save a song and view it when you don't have any wifi, just double tab and word, then drag the highlight to however much you want to copy, then paste it into your notes! This works great for chords, but...not so much for tabs. It kind of turns it all into a blob of numbers and dashes. :D
This is a great app. I use the desktop site all the time and this is EXTREMELY convenient. I love this app and all the tabs that are in it. I highly recommend this to any guitar player and I rate it five stars hands down.

Well, I do play a couple of instruments and one of them being the piano. I can't read sheet music so I learn by watching tutorials online. This is a good app if you can or can't read sheet music. It allows you to watch the piano play the keys, and at the same time, you can watch the scrolling music!
You can adjust the speed at which it plays, change how the auto-scroll feature works, turn on or off if you want the app to show the piano, and see more info on each song.
Once you go through the given songs you can press the shop button at the top and browse for a lot more songs. Currently they are all free so I would buy this app now!
For anyone who has a question about this app: this is a classical music app. NOT classic rock! :D
Great app for anyone like me who can read sheet music, or anyone who can't. One possible recommendation for the devs: it would be really nice if you could make a feature that you can see one hand at a time. Watching the left hand and right hand in two different parts I think would help. It's just an idea though. :D

Angry Birds ($.99)

Angry Birds

I just downloaded this awesome game and I cannot put it down! It is a very addicting game, but it isn't a mindless one. It really does make you think about the angles and trajectories that you are flinging these birds. There is also a bit of a storyline involved and TONS of levels! TONS!! It will have you coming back for more. My battery died twice already! :D
If anyone reading this doesn't already know what this game is:
It's about birds who have had their eggs stolen by the pigs. Now, of course, the birds want them back. So it is your job to try to kill (not really violently) all of the pigs in each level by shooting birds at them. Of course...that IS easier said than done! There are a variety of obstacles in the way trying to prevent you from doing your mission.
To aide your quest, different birds have different abilities. This will help greatly while trying to avenge your unborn babies kidnapping. As said in the description:
"Lemme tell ya, these ain't no ordinary finches we're talkin' about. These here are the Angry Birds, the ones that's gonna kick you in the nads."
MOST DEFINITELY a five star app. HANDS DOWN

I always say, "Always trust a game with a good soundtrack." Does that mean that I don't "trust" Pocket God and Doodle Jump? In a way, YES! Danny Baranowsky (the composer of the soundtracks on both games) did an excellent job on the music which gave them both a moody/action feel. Just the music makes me sit on edge!
Canabalt is an action game where you jump to avoid falling off buildings and different obstacles to stay alive. Very easy navigation: just TAP to jump and the man will automatically keep running. It appears he in a city like New York and is in a "Doomsday-Like" atmosphere, but I am not 100% sure. You can also change which music you want to play in the background while you make your "Daring Escape." (Click the top right corner.) with the game's atmosphere and the great music this game, somehow gives me the feel of Batman The Dark Knight. Haha.
The second game that I have reviewed is Gravity Hook HD. This is like, a beefed up version of Doodle Jump. I don't understand HOW games like doodle jump and Pocket God are on the top games list when there are games like this out. Gravity hook is where you control a small robot with a grappling hook and connect to different colored mines to get higher. Be careful though. The mines move when you are connected to them! Not at the speed you do, but they do move. Green mines are safe and do not explode, blue mines arm themselves while connected, and red mines you can connect to but NOT TOUCH. if you miss a mine, like in Doodle jump, (missing a platform) you will die. Once you get to a certain level you can unlock the "classic" mode. It is more of the arcade style of the game.
These games really do replace Doodle Jump and Pocket God for me. More action, suspense and Great music. I would give both these games a 5 for originality, creativity, and awesomeness.

To the review!

I have a wild crazy brain and it shows in my dreams sometimes. I often don't know what the heck these dreams mean though! A lot of times, I'll have a dream but by the time I get out of bed and stumble to the computer, I'll forget some important details. I usually sleep with my iPod next to my bed anyway so I knew this would be a good app for me.
There are a couple of features that are used in this app. You can either search by meanings or by keywords about the dream. One great feature is you can also submit a dream that you would like interpreted and they may look it over and put it on the next version of the app! I think that is pretty cool. The second feature that makes it's a five star app is the built in dream journal. Don't want to switch between your notes app and the dream app? No problem! Just use the built-in journal to record your dreams!
I have found one small problem with the journal though. Once you click the "save" button you cannot edit the dream. That was a tad bit annoying..but nothing major. I will say, because of the awesome features, this is a five star app no doubt about it. Worth the money; and I highly recommend it.

Green Eggs and Ham-Dr. Seuss ($3.99)

I really don't know how I came across this app, but I'm really glad that I did. This is one of Dr. Seuss's most classic books next to The Cat and the Hat. I admit it, I still love his books. Some people say they're just for kids..I really don't think so. I'm 15 and I like them. Anyway, the app has three different features that all have very simple navigation. The first is the "Read to Me" option. This takes the story and reads it to you with two narrators that your kids will love. In the background, it is also playing sound effects that go along great with the story. The second option is the "Read it Myself" option. This, as it says, let's you read the story by yourself, without the narrators. This still has the sound effects in the background too. The last option is "Auto Play." this plays the whole story, with the narrators, the sound effects, and animation that turns the page for you. All three are great options for this type of app and our kids will love it.
Once again, nothing majorly wrong with this app but a lot majorly right. I do enjoy it and give it a 4.5. Also, if you do try this book and like it, Ocean House Media has a lot of other apps including more from Dr. Seuss!

Ehh..this is one of the lower apps that I downloaded for my iPod..this is an app that...well, does what the name says basically. It is an app that can play different kinds of horns ranging from a car to a boat when you make a motion with it. For one thing for the ipod to pick up the motion you have you do it fast. Second, the sounds are a bit short and quiet.
On the other hand it is a fun app to have at parties or at the lunch table. I don't think this app is worth a dollar though. I would say it should be free, but that's my opinion. I would give this app a 3 because while it is fun, it does lack a bit in creativity.

I really must say, this is a pretty useful app. It displays and raises the amount of RAM you have on your iPhone or iPod Touch. As it says in the app's description, "The iPhone and iPod Touch comes with 128-512 MB of runtime memory." When you turn on this app, you will see your RAM amount raising, thus, freeing memory. It shows the Amount of RAM, the processes that your iPod or iPhone is running, and your battery level.
In the App Store this app is rated a 3 1/2 out of 5. Myself, I would rate this app a 4 1/2 because it really is a useful application to have on your iPod. It is well worth the the dollar and anyone who wants to free up some memory on your device, this is an app that you should check out.

I don't know about anyone else but I really like boardgames. You know... the good old-fashioned, fun, and easy to play boardgames. Did you ever get the urge to play one of your favorite games while you were in the car or alone? if you like to play Stratego, this is a great app to put on your iPod. You may see the price and say, "ehh... It's $4... I don't wanna spend that much..." Blah blah blah... It is WELL worth the money! I've only played five times so far and I have already surpassed the $4 enjoyment mark. For a game like Stratego, DON'T CHEAP OUT!! Buy the good one and actually have fun with the game.
Before I stumbled upon The General, I downloaded an app called "iFog of War." It is a terrible game all together and compared to The General, it is even worse. The General packs some awesome added features including great sounds, different themes, pre-loaded strategies, preference changes, and if the lowest number has the most power or vice versa. (It also has MULTITASK powers so you can X out of the app and then come back to your game later!)
It is a very simple game to control. Just click and drag to move your pieces and you are good to go! I highly recommend this game to any Stratego fan and, if I could, I would rate this game a six out of five. (By the way just to say how great the graphics are I honestly thought, at first glance and looking at the screen shots, that this game was made by the original company; Milton Bradley.)

Dragon Dictation (Free)

Wow... Now THIS is an amazing app... Everyone has all heard of text to speech. Well Dragon Dictation is SPEECH to TEXT!! Honestly, I will say right now that this is a five star app. There really isn't a lot to review on this one... It's just... GREAT! I was looking it up on YouTube before I downloaded it (I admit it, I was a bit skeptical.) and saw a NEWER version that allows more features. I didn't see the date but I just checked and, it isn't on the app store. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. :D ANYWAY...Great app, go to the app store, GET IT.

Logitech TouchMouse (Free)

This is a pretty cool app that works with your computer. TouchMouse connects to you computer though a wifi signal so that you can have a wireless mouse! OMG! It is a very cool app a very simple to use. All you have to do is have a wifi signal, your IP address, and a free program downloaded onto your computer called Logitech TouchMouse Server. The instructions are on the site I believe. Once you have all the requirements, you should be good to go! (Also, if you do need a little more help setting up the software, there are a couple of video tutorials on YouTube that you will find helpful.)
At first I found it a bit hard to control but once you get used to it, it is a VERY useful app.
For example, I have a computer in my room, on my desk, near the foot of my bed. I now can lie down on my bed and still use my computer! To be honest it is a bit hard to see where your mouse is going at times, but if you do have that problem, you can put the magnifier on if you need.
Everything is free, it is a very easy setup, and in my opinion I think Logitech did a great job on this app.

*You can also mess around with the computer while someone else is on it! Muhahaha*

Anyone ever like to know what's going on around you? Crime? Police chases? In your area?! Well now you can hear whatever the cops hear. And, what's really cool is that the police radio that you want to listen to doesn't have to be in your area...OR ANYWHERE NEAR IT. You can be in New Jersey and listen to police radio for california or even TOKYO! Pretty amazing in my opinion. Please don't quote me on this but I believe that it is the same makers of the app HiDef Radio. It has the exact same features basically. Great app which I give 4.5 stars.

I Am T-Pain ($2.99)

Wow...Now this is an app that you should look into. Ever wonder how a lot of singers (T-Pain, Daft Punk, etc...) get that mechanical robot sound when they sing? You probably thought "I probably need big recording studio software to get that sound..." NO! This is the perfect app for singers that want to spice it up a bit. With many different features at your disposal you can have a lot of fun with this app. You can even listen to other people's recordings! Honestly, I'm not a rap or hip hop fan and it doesn't mean that this app is only for that.
I have found one problem with this app, though. When I am listening though my earphones while using the app, sometimes the sound becomes very scratchy and the sound from one of of the earbuds goes out. If you do encounter this problem go to the "world" tab where you can listen to other people for a couple seconds, then go back to the mic and start again. If it is still there, just restart the app.
I love this app because of how much fun it is. I give it 4.5 stars.

Well...anyone out there a Dragon Ball Z fan? I know I am. Well, if you do enjoy the the awesome anime show, this will be good for you. What his app does is that it shows a map of where you are (wifi or GPS needed) and shows the dragon balls speeding out over an amount of space (you pick the difficulty) and then...you find them! I must warn anyone with an iPod touch that although this app does work for the iPod, GPS is needed to track where you are so you can "find" the dragon balls. If you have an iPhone, this app shall work wonders. But for the people with iPods you can buy a cradle and get the xGPS app to get GPS anywhere or you can use something that people call wifi triangulation.
Wifi triangulation means, when you start the app in a place with wifi, walk, lose your wifi, and go in and out of connections along the way. That way, you will get closer and closer to the dragon balls. I live in a small town without a lot of wifi, (grr...) BUT, if you live in a more populated, up-to-date town that has a lot of free wifi where ever you walk, that would be cool too. You can toggle what kind of maps you want, see if there are other people using this app close by in your area, and there is a feature that you can view the app in the dragon ball radar screen, like in the show.
I have tried this app out on my friend's iPhone with GPS and it is a great app. I give this app a 5 out of 5 because of it's realistic features and graphics.

This, as you can see, is on an IRC app or an internet relay chat application. Personally on the computer, I use mIRC or Mibbit.com which I think work well. So, I wanted to find some kind of app for my iPod that may work just as good. I kept searching and came across IRC999. This app used to be a pain in the butt but now it is a great app. All the things you need in an irc app are here. You can see what everyone else is talking about while you type which is a great function.

Pocket God and Doodle Jump (Both $.99)

The first thing I did when I got my first iTunes card was to check out games that everyone has been talking about: Pocket God and Doodle Jump. Many people already know about these games and they have been around for a while but as my grandpa says; they're oldies but goodies. Of course Pocket God is a game that you are in control of the Pigmies and you can do with them of what you wish. Create storms, earthquakes, and other natural disasters and also bring other things in like dinosaurs and ghosts. It has really no storyline so you can come and go as you please. There are, however, mini games in which you can post your high score. You can play three mini games in all: one that worked together with DoodleJump, a "jump" game where it appears that you are running from lava in a "hell" scene, and the last game is one where you are tilting your device to navigate the pigmy through a sewer scene. There are many different things to do to torture this little guys and it is a very good game.
Now to Doodle Jump. This is a VERY addicting game that I would also highly recommend. You are doodle... And you... JUMP! It's easier said than done though. Once you get higher and higher up there become fewer platforms to jump on and monsters start to come into play. There are of course things to help you like springs, trampolines, and jet packs, but while making sure you don't fall from the platforms that are under you, you must dodge the monsters, holes, UFOs and the different types of platforms. (Broken, exploding, or the ones that disappear. There are no real "levels" that you go to but rather, different modes. There is normal, space, halloween and a few more. Each mode has different themes for the backgrounds, how Doodle looks, the monsters and the objects.
Both of these games I would give a 5 out of 5 because of the graphics, the entertainment, and the gameplay. (By the way, if you type your name as Ooga in DoodleJump, you can play as one of the pigmies from Pocket God and you can play a game of DoodleJump in Pocket God by dragging a pigmy up to the clouds and tilting the device to control the direction the little guy jumps!)

Hey Everybody! Its July, which sadly means.....SUMMER WILL BE OVER SOON!! I believe I go back to school around August 25th and I am also trying to get the use of iPods "LEGAL" in school. No more losing notes or forgetting that homework assignment! It will be great for a number of subjects (Math, science, social studies, law, english, etc...) and it will also be great for any type of homework, project, essay, and taking notes. (A lot of other things too! :D) If you are one of the people who would like to use your iPod for more than just an awesome multimedia player, check out these apps that I tried out in the "Educational isle" of the app store:

S'Cool Buddy- This is an amazing app for keeping track of your school schedule and all the homework/projects that come with them! You can put in the name of your teacher, the room number, what kinds of grades you have, and lots more!

Notes Lite- This app is great for planing things and a to do list. You can keep track of small things here. I wouldn't recommend the LARGE notes and whole notebooks you're going to take in an app. (I have an app for that which I'll tell you soon)

GPA- This is an app that you can use in your high school or collage years to keep that grade point average in check.

MyGradesLite- I would give this app a higher rating than GPA because with MyGradesLite, you can put in each and every grade that you get for every class. Then (With the magic of computers :D) it will automatically average your grade.
Example: Say you have a test in Spanish that was worth 100 points and you earned 92. For that class (with only that 1 grade) it will say you have a 92%. Now, if you add in a quiz that was worth 25 points and you earned 19, your overall grade for that class would go down to a 88.8% because you got a low score on it.
This is probably what I will do: For everyday use I will use MyGradesLite. Then once the end of the semester comes, I will put the overall grade for each class into GPA so I can get my complete grade point average.

SchoolBuddy- This is another great app to help a lot of problems in school. It closly relates to S'Cool Buddy but each one has a couple of functions that make them different. I have both of them on my iPod because I like to use all the tools that I can.

Fliq Notes- I mentioned earlier about a notebook app. Well...This is it! Fliq Notes is an amazing application that allows you to make as many "notebooks" as you want and create as many notes in those notebooks as you want. What I find VERY cool is that you can categorize the notes and notebooks into your classes by different colors, names, and the date you made the note. NO MORE LOSING NOTES AND PAPERS! What I would recommend is that you always back-up your notes right after you take them by sending the note to your email just in case you "misplace" your iPod. (Another nifty function that this app carries.)

BBTimeTableFree- I haven't really messed around with this app as much as the others but I can tell it can still help you out. This app is all about your schedule. What time, where you have to go, what the teacher's name is, etc... Good app for busy schedules or if you are just starting off the year and forget which way is your homeroom! :D

EMD PTE- Wow...this is an amazing app. Who has chemistry and is constantly annoyed with all the different papers you need JUST for the periodic table? NOT ANYMORE! This app has all your needs for ANYTHING having to do with the periodic table. You see the table, click on an element and have all the information that you need. What it looks like, the basic info, the discoverer, and a lot more. If you tilt your device to the right it will pop up with a screen that you can search for an element, see what states the elements are in at different temperatures, and still more! For anyone that uses the periodic table for anything, this is the app for you!
I give this app a 5 out of 5 because...well...it is just amazing! (and free! :D)

myhomework- This app is pretty self-explanitory. A lot of homework? Don't want to forget? This is the app for you. plug in your class, the assignment, and you are ready to go!

Wikipedia, Google, Dictionary, FreeSaurus- These are all apps that will help tremendosly in any and/or every class.

eReader- Have Accelerated Reader book list that you have to read? Download this app and start looking up the books you need online. MANY of the books are free! No more worrying about the library's books! :D

The Complete Edgar Allan Poe- This app is great for english class. It has all of Poe's stories in one app, all for free, and you don't even need wifi to view them!

HistoryMaps- This is a great map app that doesn't just give you maps, but also bits of history about what you are looking at, the populations throughout the years, and more!

Daily News- Great news app for Social Studies or, just reading what's going on around you. Has the oil spill stopped yet? Go to the Daily News.

Built-in apps- Take advantage of those apps that you have built into your iPod! The calculator (turned sideways) has many functions for your math or science class. The mail app to check your school e-mail account and back up your notes. The stocks to know what companies are up and which are down. The calender to see if you have a project due soon. (OMG! I HAVE A 700 WORD ESSAY DUE TOMORROW! :D) You can also use the basic photo app to store anything relevant to your school work.

Dragon Dictation- I have this on another review,but in short, Dragon Dictation is a text-to-speech app REVERSED! You talk into your mic, and then you will see your spoken words on the screen. You can then e-mail it to your self for later!

I know...that’s A LOT of apps. But they will all help you in the long run. Hope everyone takes advantage of your iPod and I hope that these apps will help a little.

iheartradio (Free)

In my last review, it was on HiDef Radio, but before that, I used an app called "iheartradio." Before I found HiDef Radio it was the coolest thing out there. It has a decent number of stations but there was a couple of "bugs" that I should make you aware of:

1.) You could not search for what kind of station you wanted. You had to go by city and then pick the station you wanted to listen to.

2.) A lot of times (and I mean A LOT) the radio would lose the signal and stop playing completely. (It would stop playing and then it would actually cancel out the application!) This is one of the major reasons that I went out searching for another radio app.

It was annoying when I was in the pool with the iPod plugged into my amplifier when suddenly, the music shuts off. BLAH. I would say that this would be a great app if it wasn't for those problems. (The music shutting off especially.) I would give this a 3.5 out of 5.

HiDef Radio (Free)

I was browsing for new music related apps yesterday and I found one that is called HiDef Radio. It is one of the best apps I've downloaded yet. It has so many channels from all around the world and you don't have to worry about the fuzzy sound from any of them. You can search for a channel, browse by genres, or listen to the top feeds. Of course for this app you have to have an internet connection but for most of the apps out there, you do. Me -being a Beatlemaniac- went right for the search engine and looked up "Beatles." Pretty simple and the results were amazing! I got about five or six stations dedicated JUST TO BEATLES!

There is a radio station on the internet that I listen to called Beatles-a-Rama. It is a radio station playing Beatles and Beatle-esk music. It really is an amazing station. They now have an app that came out recently for $4.99 and you can listen to the station, on your iPod or iPhone whenever you want. When I first got the iPod I wanted it REALLY bad, and, I still did until yesterday. So, as I was looking down the list of Beatles stations, guess what I found? Beatles-a-Rama! FOR FREE! Not to cheap out on Beatles-a-Rama or anything but there is a way to get the station (among others) for free.

I have found that the stations do freeze a bit occasionally but they automatically reboot themselves back up very quickly. Thousands of free radio stations right in the palm of your hand! How awesome!! 5 out of 5 stars! Great app!

Once again, it was me, my iPod, the app store, and a longing to play a fun game. I looked around and I found it... A game called "LightBike." it is a free game that strongly resembles the 1980's game: Tron. You can pick which car color you want to play as and you are always playing against three other players, or CPU's. The controls are very simple to handle and it is a very fun game to play. It honestly does make a great game to play when bored or not and the graphics and gameplay are pretty cool. I would highly recommend this game and give it 4.5 stars.

Mr. Space!! (Free)

I was browsing around for new apps and different types of games for the iPod and the iPhone, and I came across one that is called Mr. Space. It is a pretty addicting game that -like most games- gets faster and and harder as you get higher up in the levels. You control the stickman (Mr. Space) by tapping the left and right arrows at the bottom of the screen. The object of the game is to get Mr. Space into the "space" between the floor and the ceiling. If you don't...well...he gets...squashed! Good thing you have three lives! :D
I would recommend this game for anyone but it does get a tad bit boring after a bit. It can be addicting but it really is a good game, and...its FREE! Another tiny thing I didn't like about it was, even though it is a very, VERY easy game to play, there were no instructions and once you press play, you're likely to get squashed because you aren't sure what to do. It s a very small problem and I think this game deserves a 4 out of 5.

Mocha VNC lite app. (Free)

I was wondering if it actually was possible to connect my iPod to my home computer. I searched on the internet and came across an app called VNC lite. It's an app that, once you do an easy configuration with you computer, you can hook you iPod/iPhone up to to your home or work computer.
Pretty cool right? This app requires a couple things to get it working:

1. You have to download and install UltraVNC onto your computer.
2. You must have you computer turned on at all times for it to work.
3. You must have a stable wifi connection to hook up.

This is a great app if you are on your patio or in your bedroom and want to access your computer from there, but I would not recommend this for a long distance trip or vacation that no one will be home to turn your computer on and off (unless you don't mind to pay for an electric bill that is a little pricier :p). Yes, it pretty much does all it says it does, with you able to access all your programs and files but one major thing that made me angry was the scroll function... THERE WAS NONE! Say you are on a website using VNC and you need to scroll down or up to access more of the page... You won't be able to because when you try it, it just roams around the page for you are dragging the page with your finger! >:o In this manner I have found that you could not "click and drag" due to the same problem. There is only one way to scroll and that is by clicking the up or down arrows on top of or under the scroll bar. It is a bit hard to do because you finger is large in comparison to the tiny buttons.
I would say it is a good app to access your computer for files and programs that you DON'T NEED TO SCROLL WITH. That is the one major flaw I found wrong with this app. I would really recommend this to watch a computer (like your employees or your children) to see what they are doing before they delete the history. ; )
I would give this app a 2.5 stars out of 5 due to the problems and flaws that is has.

I was browsing for different kinds of apps on the app store and looked up any books that were out there. I searched and searched and came across an app that had to do with Edgar Allan Poe.. I looked more into it and realized it did not need any internet connection to read all of the stories. Me being a huge Poe fan had to download this application.
As i read a few of Poe's greatest, like The Raven, The Cask of Amontillado, and The Masque of the Red Death I enjoyed the easy navigation and the clear fonts. All of his stories are there, for you to view, and without wifi! For all those Poe fans out there, this is the app for you!

Defender Case for the iPod Touch

I recently went out to a local Wal-mart looking for an ipod Touch protector case and screen protectors. So I finally did find a pack of three silicon protectors called immerse by Griffin for about $8 and a pack of screen protectors made by WriterRight for about $7. (For an ipod of any kind i would spend a couple extra dollars to buy the screen protectors SPECIFICALLY for the ipod, because these do not have the hole for the home button and you have to cut them down to the size of the ipod yourself.) At the time, I thought i was getting a very good deal. Then I got home and put the silicon protectors. I felt felt disappointed for these were very thin and flimsy. If you are active, work in harsh conditions (Construction work, hiking, plumbing, carpenter work, etc...) or are a bit clumsy (like me) you probably want a more hard, plastic protector.
A couple of days ago i went out to an auction that sells a lot of different things ranging from fruit to computers. As I was browsing I came across a stand that sold all kinds of accessories for iPods and I asked him what I was looking for. He showed me the Defender Case for the iPod Touch 2/3 by Otterbox which comes in a couple different colors (I just got the black) and is literally built like a tank. At the auction I bought it for $20 but it seems that in most stores and online sites it's marked at about $25. I honestly wouldn't care if it was $25 or $100, I would definitely recommend this protector whatever the price may be. I do think the price is just right for it though. I enjoy the attachable clip that comes with it and the protector screen that is already built with it. No more smudges!! :)
